- Summary
- Examining the past can threaten your future...Dr Mike Wilson is the Dublin City Coroner, responsible for investigating unusual, unexplained, violent or unnatural deaths in the city. In late 2009 Patrick Dowling, a 28 year-old drug addict, was found hanging in woodland. The police review ended as soon as the autopsy result was announced. Suicide. They asked a few questions, talked to close friends and family, but not with any real purpose. Dowling had been an addict with poor life expectancy - as far as the police were concerned the case was closed. After studying the file Wilson comes to a very different conclusion. Dowling had been murdered. A 46 year-old pathologist with a troubled past, Wilson has a naturally suspicious mind. He trusts few and distrusts the police investigation. He suspects it was either botched or deliberately confused to hide the truth. He forensically dissects the file and decides that someone else was in the woods on the day Dowling died. He confides in a senior police officer who shares his suspicions. But as he probes further his life is threatened. He's caught up in a blast made to look like gangland warfare, then he and his family are attacked. As his investigation staggers from one crisis to another, putting his life further in danger, he closes in on the real circumstances surrounding the drug addict's shocking final hours.death
