- Poirot's fascination for observing human behaviour leads him to accept an invitation to The Hollow, the beautiful country retreat of the eccentric Angkatell family. The weekend's events take a sinister twist when the family stages a murder tableau and discover that the 'victim', Doctor John Christow, really has been shot.
