- Orchestra of the Antipodes is one of Australia?s finest period-instrument ensembles, praised for the vitality and freshness of its interpretations. Delighting in the rich yet subtle colours and timbres of their Baroque instruments ? ?lustrous?, in the words of Limelight magazine ? the players bring alive the music of the 18th century with intelligence and passion. Its members have played in acclaimed ensembles around the world, including Les Arts Florissants, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Academy of Ancient Music, Florilegium, Concerto Copenhagen, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, English Concert, Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Il Giardino Armonico, Les Talens Lyriques and the Venice Baroque Orchestra. The ensemble has featured on many ABC Classics albums, both as the orchestra for Pinchgut Opera, and accompanying performances by renowned Australian singers such as Teddy Tahu Rhodes and Sara Macliver. Now for the first time, the Orchestra of the Antipodes steps forward into the spotlight, with an album of instrumental gems selected from across their extensive discography
