- Summary
- This film will show you, step-by-step and in detail, how to carry out a target child observation. By observing the techniques demonstrated, you will have the opportunity to quickly grasp the skills needed to carry out this kind of observation effectively in your everyday practice.. Initially shown as one continuous 10-minute piece in a classroom, you will see five children sitting around a table drawing. The objective is to examine social development. Two children, one socially outgoing, the other withdrawn are observed separately. Written observations are displayed on the screen after each minute. At the end of each ten minute observation there is an evaluation on screen that interprets the observation. The children's drawings are also shown and evaluated.. Watching the sequences repeatedly offers you an opportunity to practice and really get to grips with this technique. The sequences can also be used to concentrate on other objectives, language development or concentration for example. You may also wish to study the other children in the group and their drawings are included in the accompanying notes for this purpose
