Summary
Randwick Council and Sydney Water must work together to solve the issue of pollution plaguing Malabar beach, Michael Daley says. The Maroubra MP has called for an end to finger-pointing and for the two bodies to start co-operating in the interest of residents. Malabar continued its poor showing in the recent State of Our Beaches report by the NSW Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water. In the report, which rates beach suitability for swimming in five grades, Malabar was rated very poor, indicating the microbial water quality "was highly influenced by faecal pollution, with elevated enterococci (bacteria) levels often recorded"
