- Summary
- It was a simple enough job. All Harry Becker had to do was return a stolen handbag to Evelyn Crowley, wife of a big banker in Canberra. Mrs Crowley was so pleased that she gave him a job - find the daughter she'd given up for adoption seventeen years ago. He managed that without too much difficulty. Then she asked him to do another job - find out who was blackmailing her. And that's when things changed for Becker, a disgraced cop and dead loser no one wants to know. What begins as a simple investigation soon develops into a dangerous love story. Someone wants to kill Mrs Crowley and if Becker gets in the way, just too bad for him
