Summary
The Save Coogee Beach anti-high rise battle cry had the ear of the State Government on Wednesday. The campaign is organised by the Coogee precinct committee, which met with state government architect Peter Mould last week to outline the community's concerns about "The Village Coogee" development. The committee brought with it a 17,000-strong petition as "silent witness to the event". The Planning Minister, Tony Kelly, brought the architect in to review plans by the Oakstand Property Group following concerns about the impact of development options for the Coogee Bay Hotel site. The committee's Rona Wade said Mr Mould and Department of Planning officials had listened to their concerns over the two revised plans, worth $159 million and $253 million, that feature eight- or nine-storey towers
