Summary
Vulnerable housing residents have been living for as long as 18 months in dilapidated buildings surrounded by vandalism and heroin abuse while they wait for alternative accommodation. The handful of residents who remain in three buildings at Gallop Court in Maroubra are fearing for their lives as the abandoned buildings have attracted hooligans who are smashing windows, squatting in empty apartments, leaving graffiti tags and using it as an injection room. Only a couple of residents occupy each of the three 20-apartment buildings while they wait to be relocated by Housing NSW so the buildings can be renovated
