Summary
An upcoming soccer festival in Maroubra is in jeopardy after Randwick councillors banned the organisers from selling alcohol on the beach. No Parking Metres Party councillor Charles Matthews encouraged his colleagues to support the prohibition he said would ensure the safety of patrons of the February 11-13 event next year. "The event will be on all day and a lot of alcohol would be consumed, " he said. "So you might have drunks going in the water later and when alcohol is involved and people go swimming they drown; I don't want that to happen, " he said. In response to the liquor ban Beach Soccer World Wide organisers have said they will consider moving the event to another beach outside of the Randwick LGA
